 2017 Preview

B.C. Rain completed the 2016 season with a 5-5 record. Last year B.C. Rain just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region one with a 3-5 region record.

The Red Raiders improved in 2016 with their first winning season since 2005.

Since 2010, B.C. Rain has gone a combined 23-49. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, B.C. Rain has managed to compile a record of 119-152. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 6A and 247th in the AHSAA.

The Red Raiders are led by head coach Tellis Stone who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-26 over the past four seasons at B.C. Rain. Under his direction the Red Raiders have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Stone.

Coach Stone's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 16-26 (38.1%).

The B.C. Rain Red Raiders will play in Class 6A region one during the 2017 season.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Red Raiders could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. B.C. Rain missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2017.

Clifford Powell returns for his Junior season after completing 52 of 92 passes for 697 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The defense returns Sophomore defensive tackle Carlos Johnson Jr. who registered 88 tackles and nine sacks last season.

The Red Raiders open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Citronelle on Friday, September 1 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Citronelle Wildcats finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 5A region one. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Carroll by a score of 35-21.

B.C. Rain and Citronelle have met a total of 23 times on the football field. The Red Raiders have a 13-10-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2007 with Citronelle winning by a score of 28-0.
